Camera As A Sensor

Client: Vue Robotics

Business Opportunity

Vue Robotics needed a cloud-based platform to visualize imagery, video, and data collected by its wireless, cellular ARC1 camera system.

Technical Challenge

Their customers needed to accurately and remotely monitor and assess the weather & environmental conditions of critical infrastructure across the country in real-time. They also needed to be alerted of any anomalies to be able to make real-time decisions when concerning conditions exist – as determined by their own criteria at the site level.

Solution

Working hand-in-hand with one of our long-time hardware engineering partners, we created a software solution for their cameras that combines data and images from the device with relevant weather condition data, including time-lapse imagery, video, sensor data, and 3rd party weather data. Using hyper-local ground and air conditions from the camera, we are able to show conditions at a device level in real-time without relying solely on the “closest airport” data coming from a third-party source.

Impact

With hundreds of cameras installed in just the first year since the solution launched, Vue Robotics is already receiving industry awards. The American Public Works Association named the Vue Robotics ARC1 Platform the “Best New Product of the Year in 2023,” and the next phase of the camera is currently rolling out.

We are using a multimodal AI model that leverages machine learning and computer vision using the data and images from the device. We are Vue’s technology backbone for their core offering, and they are growing rapidly as a result of the “it just works” aspect of our solution resting on Prism. Vue is operating in 30 states and provinces and is working with Federal, State, and Local government agencies as well as multi-site facility management and real estate owners to remotely monitor their assets.
